STUDENT SUPPORT
Global English School is committed to providing a quality education in an English language environment. Classes are taught with a language ratio of 80% English and 20% Thai. Students are expected to learn core subjects such as Math and Science, and the majority of their other classes, in English. Therefore students need to have a high working knowledge of the English language to be able to understand the teacher, understand concepts being presented, participate in class, and complete homework assignments.
We understand that not all applicants have the same level of English ability. Because English is essential for success at GES, we provide a program designed to help students develop their English language ability to a level where they can be successful in their core classes. We also provide additional support through a variety of programs to help students succeed academically in both Thai and English language classes.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE WORKSHOP
We call this program English Language Workshop or ELW. Students are taken out of regular classes for 3 hours each week to receive additional English instruction. ELW focuses on developing students' English ability in four areas: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. Teachers work to develop a friendly and comfortable teaching atmosphere, where students can practice and develop their English skills. Enrollment in ELW is decided by an English language test, administered by an ELW teacher, which all applying students are expected to take. You can schedule an appointment to take the English language test by contacting the school office.
HOMEWORK HELP & TUTORING
Homework Help is an after school program for elementary students. In Homework Help, students work with Thai and English speaking teachers and volunteers who help them understand and complete their homework. Homework Help is intended to supplement learning for parents whose schedules do not permit them to help their child with homework at home. Homework Help is held for an hour after school each day.
Many parents and students seek additional support outside of the classroom. GES seeks to meet this need by allowing teachers to tutor individual students in their own classrooms before and after school. Our English speaking staff members often make themselves available for tutoring for up to two hours a day in order to accommodate the most children. Tutoring is the optimal way to provide you child with individualized instruction that meets their specific needs and allows them to grow even beyond what in-class instruction can provide. Tutoring is also available in Thai language

CONTENT AREA SUPPORT
Content Area Support (CAS) is another way that GES provides support for students. Students who are struggling in any core content area are placed in CAS in addition to their regular class load. In CAS, students benefit from a smaller class size (ranging from 1:1 to 1:5 teacher to student ratio) and instruction that meets their specific needs. For Grades 1-6 CAS is held four times a week for 30 minutes before school begins. For Grades 7-12 CAS is held twice a week for 50 minutes during the last period of school. Students are enrolled in CAS on a semester-to-semester basis.
INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PROGRAM(IEP)
GES strongly believes that every child has great potential to learn and succeed in life and that it is the school’s responsibility to discover how best to help children reach that potential. As of recently, GES has begun a program that provides Individual Education Programs (IEP’s) and additional support for students with special needs. GES seeks to work in conjunction with parents to provide such students with the best education they can receive even if it means special measures must be taken.
