Mission & Philosophy

The Mission of Global English School is to provide students with the opportunity to pursue excellence in the form of academic achievement and moral character based on Christian ethics while being nurtured in a Christ centered environment.

The administration, teachers, and staff at GES will do their very best to meet the needs of every student in order to provide each individual with the opportunity to succeed in all aspects of education and life. GES employs learning resources from North America in order to prepare student to further their education at an international school locally or abroad. As the teachers at GES put forth the effort to provide high academic standards, the students are given the opportunity to work together with their parents in order to maximize learning on the road to academic excellence. GES strives to equip the students to become responsible members of the community by providing an education and example of moral character based on Christian principals. It is the goal of GES to produce students with a high regard for moral integrity that will help them succeed in life. Jesus Christ is at the center of all that GES strives to achieve in the lives of its students and staff. It is the goal of GES that students see the love that Jesus Christ has for them through chapel services, morning devotions and personal relationships with teachers.

Global English School provides an opportunity for students in Thailand to receive a bilingual education at a low cost. Global English School is a bilingual school where 80% of the curriculum is taught in English by native English speakers while the other 20% is taught in Thai by native Thai speakers. Because the school is bilingual rather than international it charges a lower tuition rate but offers a high quality English education. This low cost gives middle class working families the opportunity to provide their children with a quality English education when they would have otherwise been unable to afford one.

Global English School provides the opportunity to pursue excellence in the form of moral character based on Christian ethics. A major characteristic of the atmosphere at GES is its focus on the teaching of Christian principles. The vast majority of students and Thai workers at GES are from Buddhist families and practice the Buddhist religion. Because of this statistic, it is the goal of the teachers at GES to reach the students and their families with the message of the gospel. However, the teachers and administration at GES recognize that the most effective way to reach this goal is to provide an education that integrates the gospel in such a way that students truly learn how to live for Christ. Through such an education students can then see these principals exemplified in the lives of their Christian teachers and hopefully one day come to understand and accept the gospel in a way that changes their lives. This characteristic is valuable in the eyes of the secular community because it produces people who act as good citizens of their country and their world.

At GES, students are nurtured in a Christ centered environment. A defining characteristic of the school is that it encompasses a familial environment. Many parents of students comment on the warmth that is felt on the campus of GES and rave about how comfortable they feel with leaving their children under the care of the school. The staff at GES wants to emphasize that this nurturing environment is produced by the Christ centeredness that they aim to achieve. It is of the utmost importance to the administration and staff at GES that the love of Christ is encountered by every student that enters the campus of the school.

  • Why Bilingual education?

Bilingual education has thrived for a long time in multilingual countries. Its premise is that children taught in two languages will learn in both of those languages
fluently, and rather than translating from language to language, will actually learn to think in more than one language. Modern linguists purport that in the brain, a ‘black box' called the language acquisition device opens around the age of two, when children begin to acquire language.

If that box is, in a sense, propped open at that time by learning more than one language, the learning is real. Languages will be actually acquired rather than memorized and true bilingualism will be achieved. Educators saw the potential for learning (that actually is enhanced in all areas by multilingualism) and the bilingual school movement began.

Global English School is a true bilingual school. Teachers are native Thai speakers and native English speakers; second language speakers can serve only as aides in our classrooms.

    • 80% of the courses are taught exclusively in English, with no formal translation, even at the start of the year in kindergarten 1.
    • 20% of our curriculum material is Thai, taught again by native speakers

Class sizes are limited to 30 and our overall student to teacher ratio is 10 to 1, to ensure significant interaction with native speakers. Our students become fluent English speakers who know Thai culture and language. Unlike the international school, bilingually educated Thai students are able to read street signs and participate in traditional ceremonies and events confidently. We strongly believe that a love of Thailand and cultural pride should not preclude the opportunity to participate in the international business community, as Thailand has so much to offer the world in terms of resources, culture, and history.
