From elementary through high school, GES students enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities. From the martial arts of Taikwando, to the grace of Thai Dance, the outdoor fun, and the beauty of Art, every student can find something to become that suits their interest and provides them with hands on learning in a fun environment.
Every year, all students have the opportunity to participate in an overnight camp. This event is a major part of the school’s effort to meet the requirements of a class focusing on outdoor / survival skills & caring for the environment that takes place in other Thai schools. This is an awesome opportunity for building relationships between students and teachers outside the classroom in a setting much more relaxed and fun.The camps are split into two groups described below.
A. Lower Primary
OC takes place on the school property. It begins on a Friday after school and ends at lunch time on the following Saturday.
B. Upper Primary
OC takes place off campus. Students and teachers leave after school on a Thursday and return on Saturday.
At GES, we encourage the teachers to give their students the opportunity to explore learning outside of the classroom. Teachers have the opportunity to bring students to universities, museums, zoos, parks, and other learning institutions in order to blend teaching methods and provide hands-on learning.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are held in August and January. The purpose of the conference is to update parents on their child’s progress in school. These conferences are a unique opportunity for parents and teachers to communicate openly through a translator.
Global English School teaches students to pursue excellence. Our desire is to offer a competitive learning environment that is comparable with area schools. We encourage our students to participate in academic competitions in areas such as speech, computer, and music as well as district-wide competitions in the core subjects.
GES hopes to develop well-rounded students and is willing to go the extra mile to provide extracurricular programs that enhance our academic and physical education curriculum. Programs include one-on-one tutoring with teachers and Homework Help, Chinese and Korean language courses, Thai dance and Taekwondo classes.
Tutoring is an after school program where a teacher can work students one-on-one. This time is beneficial for the teacher as well as the student allowing for the teacher to focus his/her energy on just one student and the student to feel comfortable taking his/ her time to work through challenging assignments with the aid of a teacher.
Homework Help is an afterschool prgoram offered to help students that do not have help from their parents. Both English and Thai teachers offer students help on their homework during this time.
Takwando and Thai dance are taught by parents on campus after school throughout the week. These classes are fun and physically challenging for students and teachers alike.
Chinese and Korean language are also offered as after school programs for students who are interested in learning a third and fourth language.
For the past several summers, GES has had opportunity to partner with schools in the USA and Canada for students exchange program. We bring between 15-20 GES students each summer to these schools for 4 weeks. This program provides a cross-cultural learning experience for the students who spend the four weeks in the home of an American or Canadian family. Student also attend classes at the partner school. Through this opportunity, students are able to practice their English while enjoying the excitement of travel.
At GES, we strive to support our community by encouraging teachers and students alike to volunteer to serve in the community during their fee time. In an effort to encourage this spirit GES faciliates opportunities every year for students and teachers to get involved in reaching their community.
Volunteer ESL Teacher Nonthaburi Baptist church, located on GES campus, offers evening English courses for teenagers and adults. Teachers who volunteer to teach these courses once a week have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with adults in the community.
Green Walk Once a semester, GES students and teachers go around the neighborhood and pick up trash in the communitry. Green walk teaches our students to be responsible member of their community and shows the community that we care enough to care for the environment.
Joy Club Every Saturday morning GES offers English classes for children in the community. These classes give students the opportunity to learn basic English skills in a fun and exciting environment. Teachers can volunteer to work along side Thai church members and staff to reach out to community children who might otherwise not have the opportunity to study English.
